“A picture is worth…”

Greetings from October 20th!  Fall is in full swing and I am enjoying the cooler temperatures!  I also turned 18 yesterday so I am officially an adult!

I wanted to share a fun task that was assigned to me at the Catawba Cultural Center.  The Catawba Nation has many talented citizens who specialize in various art forms.  They are often busy with beadwork, pottery, baskets, jewelry making, leather craft and other art forms I am likely leaving out!  Lucky for visitors to the Cultural Center, there is a gift shop on-sight that houses these lovely crafts for sale to the public.  It seems I can always find something new and interesting when I visit each week

However, since online shopping has become so prevalent and some shoppers can’t make it to the store regularly, the Center has been creating an online inventory or store, where patrons can browe art for sale and either order online, or decide to stop by the gift shop based upon what they see online.

This is where I come in!  I was given the task of photography the various pieces for sale in an effort to update the public-facing website.  I really enjoyed taking the pictures and learning about each artist and their creative process.  I am also humbled that I was asked to do such important and let’s be honest, “FUN” work.  I look forward to sharing more about the gift shop with you all as we approach the holiday shopping season!
