ABOUT MY PROCESS
My Work
I am on a journey to deepen my understanding of linguistics & anthropology/archeology through learning from and contributing to the Native American communities and cultures in my backyard. I am growing through participating as a dig site volunteer and in archeology labs at the Native American Studies Center through USC Lancaster. I am also an Archivist's Assistant at the Catawba Nation.
I love language learning! Currently, I pursue both formal and informal language study. I am entering my nineth year of Spanish. I have studied some Russian independently and am taking Japanese through N.C. State's virtual program. I was selected to the Summer 2023 NSLI-Y Program to study Arabic in Marrakesh, Morrocco in addition to the Fall 2022 Virtual NSLI-Y Program; both through the U.S Department of State. Through NSLI-Y, I am excited to fulfill my dream of studying the Arabic language and culture. I have also continued my formal Arabic study beyond Summer '23. I am enjoying building on the great foundation NSLI-Y provided.
I am a member of the American Anthropological Association.
